Biofloc technology in aquaculture: Advantages and disadvantages from social and applicability perspectives

چکیده
Abstract The world aquaculture industry seeks sustainable production strategies to respond the needs of growing population for valuable food. Biofloc technology (BFT) is accepted as a novel method that reduces pollution load on receiving water resources with its zero-water-discharge approach, eliminates extra treatment costs biological cycles, and supports growth performance reared animals thereby feed costs. However, each BFT system has own set difficulties obstacles. This review focuses advantages disadvantages systems in terms economy, sociability applicability. shows more effective results conversion toxic nitrogenous compounds nontoxic compared technologies based nitrification processes. In addition, health cultured are generally better than those conventional rearing (continuous flow). risk common diseases occurrence due pathogenic microorganisms appears be lower aquaculture. It also noteworthy immune system, biochemical stress indicators antioxidant activities organisms held positively affected. microbial activity, high temperature demanded by bacteria limiter system. Moreover, higher aeration/energy requirement case meet oxygen demand all including fish, shrimp, heterotrophic bacteria, nematodes, rotifers others inside. There another concern about acceptability potential organism consumption. Finally, since will create energy costs, it should considered restriction forces application. Considering aquaculture, this provides guide future studies full-scale implementations.

Biofloc technology application in aquaculture to support sustainable development goals
Biofloc technology (BFT) application offers benefits in improving aquaculture production that could contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals. This technology could result in higher productivity with less impact to the environment. Furthermore, biofloc systems may be developed and performed in integration with other food production, thus promoting productive integrated syst...
متن کاملBiofloc Production Systems for Aquaculture
Biofloc systems were developed to improve environmental control over production. In places where water is scarce or land is expensive, more intensive forms of aquaculture must be practiced for cost-effective production. There are strong economic incentives for an aquaculture business to be more efficient with production inputs, especially the most costly (feed) and most limiting (water or land)...

Both cleavage-stage and blastocyst-stage embryo transfer policieshave advantages and drawbacks.Potential advantages of blastocyst culture and transfer in human IVF include: i. synchronization of the embryo with the female tract leading to increasedimplantation rates; thereby, reducing the need for multipleembryo transfers, ii. assessment of viability of an embryobefore transfer. This can be ach...
